NO. 13 TEXAS TECH HOSTS NO. 22 HOUSTON IN FRIDAY NIGHT BIG 12 OPENER

Texas Tech and Houston bring 2 and 0 records into a ranked conference opener Friday at 7 p.m. at Galaxy Stadium, with national coverage on FOX. The Red Raiders enter after wins over Abilene Christian and Oregon State. In Corvallis, quarterback Will Hammond threw for 189 yards while J’Koby Williams rushed for 116 in a 35 to 24 victory. Houston followed its opening win by beating Southern 77 to 6, scoring on its first 11 possessions and producing 591 yards. Cougars quarterback Conner Weigman threw 3 touchdown passes before reserves finished the game. Tech has won 7 straight meetings in the series, including a 35 to 11 road win last season, though Houston still holds an 18 to 17 to 1 overall edge. The Red Raiders will debut their black Let’s Ride uniforms, now carrying a State Farm logo. Gates and parking areas will be busy, so fans should arrive early and confirm campus traffic restrictions.
