NUMBER 12 TEXAS TECH PREPARED FOR ITS FIRST BIG 12 ROAD TEST AT COLORADO

Texas Tech entered Colorado week at 4 and 0 overall and 1 and 0 in Big 12 play, but coaches said the Red Raiders still need a cleaner start. Tech beat Sam Houston 49 to 14 after pulling away in the second half, yet the offense committed 4 turnovers and the defense allowed a 52 yard touchdown on a coverage mistake. Colorado entered the matchup 2 and 2 and 0 and 1 in conference play after losses to Northwestern and Baylor. The Buffaloes have rotated quarterbacks Julian Lewis and Isaac Wilson and have shown a willingness to run directly at a defense before attacking the perimeter. Tech will also have to manage the 5,429 foot elevation at Folsom Field. The Red Raiders have not won in Boulder since 2010. Limiting early mistakes will be especially important in the first road conference game of the season. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX.
