A Plainview man has been charged with murder and kidnapping after his wife was found dead in a field in Curry County, New Mexico.
Authorities identified the defendant as Jon Quezada, 39, and the woman as Anna Ulibarri, 36, of Clovis. Investigators said Quezada called the sheriff’s office around 4 p.m. Friday to report finding her body in the 800 block of Curry Road U, west of Cannon Air Force Base.
Quezada and another person directed deputies to the location. Investigators also examined the couple’s stay at a hotel in the 2900 block of Mabry Drive in Clovis the previous night.
Authorities alleged that Ulibarri requested security from the hotel’s front desk around 3 a.m. Friday. Investigators said Quezada later threatened her, assaulted her outside the hotel and forced her into a vehicle.
Charges also include tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm or destructive device. The listed charges are allegations; Quezada is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
