TEXAS TROOPERS ARE INCREASING LABOR DAY ENFORCEMENT STARTING FRIDAY
Drivers heading out for the Labor Day weekend should expect to see more Texas Highway Patrol troopers on the road. The Department of Public Safety says Operation CARE will run from September 4 through September 7, with troopers focusing on speeding, impaired driving and drivers who fail to follow the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law, along with other traffic violations. The increased enforcement comes as holiday travel picks up across Texas, including highways connecting Lubbock to Amarillo, Midland, Dallas and smaller South Plains communities. DPS is urging drivers to slow down, eliminate distractions, drive sober and buckle up. The campaign begins Friday and continues through the holiday period, meaning travelers should expect the increased presence through Monday as families return home.
