LOOP 88 WORK WILL CHANGE AVENUES U AND P TO ALL WAY STOPS NEXT WEEK

Drivers near the Loop 88 project should expect changes Wednesday, October 7, weather permitting. Avenues U and P will become all way stops as crews introduce a new traffic arrangement for phase 3C. The work includes restriping between the avenues for two way traffic and removing old eastbound pavement. The Avenue U crossover will provide a direct connection through the construction area. Northbound drivers will stop at the eastbound frontage road and again at the north end of the crossover before reaching eastbound or westbound FM 1585. Follow the new signs and allow extra time as the pattern changes. The larger project converts rural, two lane FM 1585 into a six lane freeway with frontage roads, bridges and ramps.
