AVENUES U AND P WILL GET NEW STOP RULES OCTOBER 7

Drivers using Avenues U and P within the Loop 88 construction area will need to follow new stop requirements beginning Wednesday, October 7, weather permitting.

Both intersections are scheduled to become stops for traffic approaching from every direction. Message boards have been placed to alert motorists before the change.

At Avenue U, the crossover will reopen. Drivers heading north will need to stop at the eastbound frontage road and stop again at the north end of the crossover before connecting with FM 1585 in either direction.

Crews will also restripe the roadway between Avenues P and U for traffic in both directions and remove the eastbound pavement between those streets.

The changes are part of Loop 88 Phase 3C, which is expected to finish in fall 2031. They allow work on the frontage road to advance.

Motorists should follow the new signs rather than relying on the traffic pattern they remember.
