Medicare Enrollment Is Open for 2027
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 19, 2026

Lubbock residents who use Medicare can now compare health and prescription drug plans for 2027 during enrollment, which continues through December 7.
The window opened October 15 and allows beneficiaries to compare next year’s plans with their prescriptions, doctors and expected costs.
National projections show the average Medicare Advantage monthly premium falling from $14.37 this year to $12 in 2027. The average premium for a separate Part D prescription drug plan is projected to rise from $35.09 to $36.
Those figures are national averages. They do not establish what a particular Lubbock resident will pay or which plans will be offered in a specific ZIP code.
A monthly premium is only part of the comparison. Beneficiaries should also review covered medications, pharmacy arrangements, provider networks and other charges when examining available options.
Medicare’s official comparison service lists 2027 plans, allowing families to review actual coverage alongside advertising claims.
