SCOGGIN DICKEY DONATES FOUR CURRENT GM V8 ENGINES TO SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE STUDENTS

Scoggin Dickey Chevrolet Buick has given four General Motors 5.3 liter V8 engines to the South Plains College automotive technology program in Lubbock. The engines are currently used across the GM vehicle line, giving students equipment that matches what they may encounter after graduation instead of older training units. Dealer principal John Zwiacher arranged the gift after 35 years on the program’s advisory board. His father in law, John Scoggin, helped establish the college’s automotive program in the 1970s. Gary Ufford, an SPC professor and former Scoggin Dickey technician, said the donation will let students train on current technology as vehicle systems keep changing. The engines were presented Monday at the SPC Career and Technical Center.
