TEXAS VOTER DEADLINE IS MONDAY

Eligible Texans have until Monday, October 5, to register for the November 3 general election. For Lubbock residents who have moved, recently turned 18 or have never registered, the deadline arrives before early voting begins.

An application sent by mail must be postmarked on or before October 5. Officials advise people mailing an application to request a manual postmark at the postal counter so the date of mailing is documented.

Eligibility includes being a United States citizen, being 18 by Election Day and living in the county where the person registers. Additional eligibility rules apply, and residents can check their status or obtain an application through the state’s voter registration system.

Early voting runs October 19 through October 30. Election Day is November 3. Checking registration now gives voters time to address an outdated address or another problem before the registration window closes. A past registration in another county is a reason to verify the current record.
